American Idol is going to Texas, which means Ryan Seacrest is at the ready with an arsenal full of "Keep Austin Weird" and "Everything's Bigger" comments. Not that Texans would be offended, because they have big, weird, state pride. Plus, not everything is bigger, as this episode fits neatly into an hour. Thank you, Idol!
So let's, "saddle up," "take the bull by the longhorns," and get "a little bit country," we're in Austin! Do you think that phone call Ryan was making to his "dad" was real? Do you think Marc Anthony is real? Did you know they made plaid shirts in chiffon? So many unanswered questions here in Austin.
Update 3: So that apology was probably just a big joke. Check out the video below. Yes, that’s where the clip ends and they go to the intro video. It’s not cut off.
Update 2: Join us in the Idol Chat room to discuss tonight’s show live!
Update: Rumor now has it that the apology at the start of the show will be for Steven Tyler’s behavior last week on the show. If that’s true, then why? Those events happened months ago and could have been easily edited out of the episode. If that’s really the reason behind the producer’s apology, then it’s a publicity stunt. Thoughts?
Catch a deep breath and then get ready for American Idol to hit the road again because tonight marks the half way point through the auditions. For a moment there I thought Idol had finally thinned the auditions down to three weeks, but nope, this will be week three of four and it starts in Austin, Texas.
Unlike the past two weeks, this Wednesday night show will only last an hour so be ready at 8PM for what Idol is billing as “Texas sized talent.” Of course they make sure to say that line with a big girl on-screen (see what they did there?) but can this crew from the Lone Star State outshine what we’ve seen before this season?
Allegedly, eleven of tonight’s hopefuls will eventually make it on to Hollywood while five of those few are expected to be part of the American Idol 2011Top 40.
Also worth noting that Ryan Seacrest went to Twitter yesterday to announce the producers will be making an apology at the opening of the show. What do you think they should apologize for? Seems kinda late for saying sorry over letting Paula go!
Bonus Update: Did you know you can get free downloads of the songs you’re hearing during the Idol auditions? RealNetworks gives out $10 in free MP3s through Rhapsody just for checking out their free trial of SuperPass (14-day free trial period).
American Idol is going to Austin, Texas, where I may or may not live. Please don't come after me, just come over for some chips and queso! Let's take a look at what Austin, the Live Music Capitol of the World, has to offer in Wednesday night's auditions!
Singing, Yes, Romper, No This girl has an awesome voice and the judges are loving it, but that hopefully that romper will stay in Austin and not make the trek to Hollywood. Maybe if it were in a different color? Not that it matters; this is a singing competition and this girl can SING. And check out J. Lo's bun! She couldn't rock the big Texas hair?
You may already have some American Idol favorites, and we've definitely been told who to keep an eye on based on who the show has chosen to feature. So if we had to pick a Top 10 right now, who would be in it? Who has the best shot based on exposure? Even though we're only halfway through the auditions, here are my picks for who we might see in the Top 10 this year. Click on their names for a link to their audition video, in case you forgot who they were or want to re-live it.
Lauren Alaina She is one of the most obvious choices for "one to watch," because she was "the last audition of the day," (how does it always work out that way?) and she has that special, Kelly Clarkson essence. The Nashville auditions ended with her whole family in the room as she sang "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" for all to enjoy. Then Steven Tyler made a comment about having "found the one" on his way out. HMM!
After another awesome week of watching Steven Tyler judge the hopefuls on American Idol 2011, I find myself wishing the show was on tonight instead of waiting for tomorrow. I’m not liking the Wednesday/Thursday schedule change.
I thought Milwaukee and Nashville brought some pretty good talent to us and I was pleasantly surprised to see not everyone in Nashville portrayed as a country music singer. Of course it wouldn’t be the South if they didn’t show a few toothless overall clad contestants in the mix. Of course the best was seeing Chelsee waiting to go on with whom I thought was her father but instead turned out to be her much older fiancee. I guess she’s taking age before beauty to another level lol.
I’m going to agree with the judges for a change and say Lauren Alaina was my favorite Idol hopeful in Nashville. I thought she sang “I don’t wanna miss a thing” much better than “Like we never loved at all”.
Tomorrow we head to Austin, Texas which is a beautiful place to live. I worked there one summer and was quite impressed with the friendliness and overall atmosphere. Watch out for Tim Halperin from Fort Worth as he is the only one on our list that we know for sure make the American Idol Top 40.
