Can you sing your own song on American Idol auditions with no background music?
Because I swear, if I’m gonna try, I cannot sing anyone else’s songs. I’ve tried, and I suck at it.
So, can you sing your own song that you wrote on American Idol auditions with no music and still have a possible chance to get in? What about on the bigger stage? Do you have to have background music and someone else’s song? Thank you!

Yes, you can sing any song you want. You can have music or no music. It is all really up to you. Just whatever you sing, you need to make sure your overall presentation/performance hits and leaves them with something to remember.
