Adam Lambert Archives

Adam Lambert is back in the headlines and not for the best of reasons today after a police report was filed against him for alleged battery. Unfortunately for Adam it was against a photographer who was surrounded by other photographers, all of whom produced much photographic evidence. Photographically, of course.

Law enforcement sources tell us the paparazzo seen grappling with Lambert on the beach yesterday walked into a Miami Beach police station around 10:30 PM last night and filed a report … accusing the singer of misdemeanor battery.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, the victim claims Adam grabbed his backpack “where the camera was placed” … and “wrestled [the photog] to the ground forcefully.”

Lambert tweeted, “Battery? Nope. I attempted to grab a camera, no punches were thrown and no one was on the ground…. It was literally harmless. If embarrassment is a crime- thats all I’m guilty of. “

Luckily it sounds like Adam Lambert should be in the clear on this one, but we’ll have to see what the “victim” decides to do about it. WWTDD has a few photos of the incident including some mooning Lambert’s friends did for the paparazzi.

Yesterday I was on a conference call with Adam Lambert and we discussed his album, “For Your Entertainment” and his upcoming Glam Nation Tour which kicks off tomorrow in Pennsylvania. adam-lambert-album-cover-1

Ashli Rae:  If one of the singles from “For Your Entertainment” was going to blow up and become the biggest hit ever, which one would you want it to be and why?

Adam Lambert:  I have no idea.  I think they’re all great.  My current single that just came out is ‘If I Had You’.  It’s trickling its way on to Top 40 radio right now.  And I think it’s a great song.  It’s really positive, it’s upbeat, it’s catchy.  It’s about the message in it.  I think it’s one of the better messages on the album, which is you can have all this success, the fame, the fortune, the lifestyle but if you’re not connecting and you’re not – and there’s no love in your life and you don’t have true friends and loved ones then it doesn’t mean anything.

It’s Elvis week on Season 9 of American Idol and who better to mentor these new stars but Season 8 runner up Adam Lambert.  Ryan opens the show and sits with Adam for a moment in the front row.  I know he’s high on something when he says, “my tongue is not nearly as talented as yours.”  What?  When the season first started I knew Ryan was a little off but he has gone from bad to worse.  Perhaps a call to Dr. Drew may be in order to help the host.

Adam gave some great advice to the contestants.  Unfortunately they didn’t all use it.  He wanted Crystal to let the dreds down and shake them around but Crystal is too refined and with her vocals, she doesn’t need to do all that but a little change up wouldn’t hurt to keep the viewers interested.

He told Andrew Garcia that his performance of “Hound Dog” was boring and encouraged him to change it up and step up his game which Garcia failed to do.  Randy said it definitely was not good karaoke.  I think we may see the end of Andrew tomorrow night.

Adam liked Tim’s version of “I Can’t Help Falling In Love” and thought the vocal and the guitar were both pretty.  Simon said he went from zero to hero in two week.  Very nice compliment.

Lambert wanted Lee to work on his facial expressions and smile more. It worked well because his  performance of “A Little Less Conversation” was his best to date and the best of the night.

Adam wanted Aaron Kelly to give more energy at the begining of “Blue Suede Shoes” and once again, a contestant doesn’t heed the advice.  I will say that the second half was much better than the first but Aaron could definitely be going home tomorrow.

Siobhan screeched out “Suspicious Minds” which is my favorite Elvis song.  Adam thought she had good pipes but that the performance was sleepy.  It didn’t come across like that to me so maybe she took his advice.  My problem with Siobhan is she argues with judges when they give her a bad critique.  Perhaps if she took their advice she would grow as an artist.

Adam wanted Big Mike to pick up the tempo a little with “In the Ghetto” and after watching the performance I can see what he was talking about.  I thought the vocals were perfect and the song powerful but it was definitely sleepy.

Katie Stevens sang a song for the judges with “Baby What Do You Want Me To Do” and Adam tells her to show her anger and frustration which she does really well.  She showed emotion and moved around the stage and hit the big notes.  I thought it was a good choice for her.  Did anyone else hear Ellen say something about a horny song?  WTH?

Casey James closed the show with “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” and Adam told him to go a little higher and give more of a climax.  Casey lacked intensity or passion with this song because something was definitely missing.  After such an amazing vocal last week I was disappointed with this and completely agreed with Simon when he said it was a wasted opportunity.

How do you think Adam did as a mentor and which two contestants are in danger of going home?

After last week’s save of Big Mike Lynche we are going into this week with another Top 9.  This is a scary situation because 2 people will get the boot Wednesday night so let’s hope it’s not one of the top contenders.  Hopefully with last season’s runner up Adam Lambert as mentor we will see some great performances from the hopefuls because if there is one thing Adam can do, it’s perform on stage.

So let’s get to the ranking of the contestants based on last weeks performances from worst to best:

9)  Andrew Garcia was karaoke and as Simon would say irrelevant.  Hope he picks a better song this go around.

8)  Tim Urban was not the worst for once but should have been in the bottom 3 instead of Mike.  I think we might finally see the end of him this week.

7)  Aaron Kelly wasn’t too terribly horrible but a long way from the best.

6)  Big Mike shouldn’t have been in the bottom 3 in my opinion but we put him there so if you like him and think he deserves to be in the competition you better pick up the phone and vote.

5)  Siobhan Magnus did manage not to scream for once but her song choice was boring and forgettable however she did hit all the notes and was on pitch.

4)  Katie Stevens stepped it up this week and I was finally able to give her some props.  Hopefully she will continue on this path.

3)  Lee Dewyze fell a spot because it wasn’t near as good as last week but he gets points for bringing in the bagpipes.

2)  Crystal Bowersox continues to do well but I’m worried that she sounds the same from week to week and there is nothing to improve on and everyone loves to pull for the underdog.

1)  Casey James gets the top honors and no it’s not because of his looks.  I thought it was the best he has ever done in the competition and he showed us a different side of himself.

Get ready to hear some Elvis Tuesday night and see what the singers were up to when they hit the streets of Las Vegas.  How would you rate this Top 9?

Update: It is confirmed that the theme for the week is Elvis songs and MJ  is reporting that a finalist from a previous season (1-7) will be performing on the result’s show Wednesday night.  Any guesses?

american_idol_adam_lambertThe big news is that Adam Lambert will guest mentor the contestants during the week and sing on the American Idol results show Wednesday.  Finally we will hear how a truly talented contestant should sing.  Or should I say former contestant.

Ryan teased us last night by saying we have a special theme coming up for next week but then didn’t tell us what it was.  I read a couple different opinions from Queen to Teen Idols but they don’t seem too realitistic to me.  For one why not get the members from Queen to mentor the kids like they have in the past and as far as Teen Idols, we’ve been there and had that one dropped.

MJ seems to have the best theory.  A source has told told them that Lambert will mentor the contestants in Las Vegas at the Aria Hotel where Cirque Du Soleil is performing Viva ElvisTop Idol further confirms this by adding that Cirque Du Soleil will be featured as well on American Idol next week.

With this news I’m being led to believe that the hopefuls will sing songs by the King of Rock and Roll.  What do you think?
