American Idol Crystal Bowersox

Ready to hear the first single from Crystal Bowersox? Take a listen to the American Idol runner-up’s demo of “Hold On”:

MTV has the word on Crystal’s debut song and details on her performance for a group of executives from VH1:

The “American Idol” runner-up kicked things off by premiering “Hold On,” the first official single from her album. Curiously enough, the song wasn’t written by Bowersox, who has notoriously insisted she will have her hand in every album track. Instead, Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger penned it with former “Idol” headache judge Kara DioGuardi.

But fear not, music fans with good taste. If those two names have you running for the hills, take a breather. “Hold On” is a devastating breakup ballad that’s both radio friendly and Bowersoxy. One only hopes the album mix stays true to Crystal’s acoustic troubadour sensibilities, because the track could very well sound like a Nickelback song if it gets overproduced with generic fuzzy guitars and schmaltzy strings.

The song definitely feels like something from Nickelback, but we won’t hold it against her. What do you think? Ready to hear more from Crystal’s debut album?

wenn5520349.jpgHave a quick bite of some TV news in 300 words.

NBC goes Mad for Mad Men
Someone at NBC must really love them some Mad Men. It has been announced the John Slattery who plays the lovable/pitiful Roger on Mad Men has been tapped to play a candidate running for congress on an upcoming episode of 30 Rock.

This is great news for Mad Men fans who after last night's finale will have to wait until next summer to check in on their favorite show. In the meantime NBC seems to be a great place for mad men and women. Jon Hamm has really etched out a name for himself with his 30 Rock appearances and his two-going-on-three SNL hosting gigs. January Jones also hosted (if you could call it that) an episode of SNL last year. Also, Rich Sommers who plays Harry Crane appeared on a few episodes of The Office a few seasons back. Now that Roger is making his way over to 30 Rock lets hope NBC finds something to do with Pete, Peggy and Joanie in the off season. [Ausiello]
x2_2d7f6bc.jpgAmerican Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe tweeted the first picture of the upcoming season's crew of American Idol judges -- newbies Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez and old guard Randy Jackson -- along with host extraordinaire Ryan Seacrest, doing their official duty at American Idol auditions for season 10.

Seeing the gang all together is totally giving me Idol fever (not to be confused with Bieber fever). But isn't it odd seeing Randy in Simon's old seat? I mean, I get that he's the only original judge remaining and has a certain level of seniority, but for me, the dawg never had any real clout in terms of judging. Jenny from the Block and Steven both seem pretty at home in their new digs.

Congratulations go out to American Idol’s Crystal Bowersox on the news of her engagement to fellow musician Brian Walker. People reports the news which was relayed to them by Bowersox’s own publicity, making rather well confirmed:

Crystal Bowersox, the American Idol runner-up, is engaged to musician Brian Walker and they plan to tie the knot next month, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

It’s the first marriage for Bowersox, 25, who has a son, Tony, 1 ½, from a previous relationship. Bowersox is currently recording her debut album.

As her career takes off, her love life has also been on fast-forward.

Brian Walker has been credited with naming the Idol runner-up with the moniker “Mama Sox.” Look for the happy couple to tie the knot in October before some sort of inevitable coupled tour. What do you think of Crystal’s exciting news?
