Carrie Underwood has a lot to celebrate this holiday season. The former
American Idol winner's third album
Play On debuted at number one this year, she was nominated for a Grammy and Country Music Award and as of this weekend, she's engaged to be married to boyfriend Mike Fisher.
The engagement was confirmed today by Carrie's spokesperson, Jessie Schmidt. "I'm happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn't be happier."

Last night I had a chance to speak with Mary J. Blige as she got ready to sing her new single, "I Am," live at the finale of So You Think You Can Dance?
She's not tall; but everything about Mary J. Blige, from her rigid posture and efficient walk, to her laser-focused eyes and unwavering voice, makes her seem imposing. Her muscular shoulders lead down to arms emblazoned with jet black tattoos seemingly writ large for the stage. She has a stunning confidence and boldness to her, but surprisingly, beneath all of that is an obvious vulnerability most of us are too afraid to show. This is a woman who wears her emotions on the surface for the world to see, and she defies them to judge her.

Obviously Adam Lambert has been the most successful of last season's
American Idol crop. 200,000 copies of his debut album sold! That's way ahead of releases from both champion Kris Allen and fourth placer Allison Iraheta. Controversial he may be, you cannot question that's he become a big star... and yet he's afraid of one thing.
"[I'm scared] that people won't want to buy the rest of my music,"
Lambert told OK Magazine during the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York last week. "That people will stop being interested, I think that's my biggest fear."

I'm not a fan of Adam Lambert, but it doesn't take one to realize that what ABC is doing to the
American Idol runner-up is quite ridiculous.
Let's begin, of course, with that performance at the American Music Awards a couple of weeks back. It was aired at around 11pm, but it still shocked viewers--a sexually-charged performance with simulated erotic actions and other suggestive bits. We all know the outrage it caused, both from viewers who found the performance too much, and from fans who think people are just being hysterical over it.

While the other networks are canceling Adam Lambert's scheduled
performances, FOX is signing up their glam protege for the
So You Think
You Can Dance finale. It'll be the first time Lambert performs on FOX
since he was performed for another big FOX finale:
American Idol. He'll be
performing "Whataya Want From Me," the latest track from his debut
release "For Your Entertainment," and I'm sure the PTC will be
watching closely.
Lambert's performance will be part of a two night
So You Think You Can
Dance finale -- December 15th and 16th. Yes, it's hard to believe, but
the
So You Think You Can Dance finale is next week and will feature not
only Adam Lambert, but six finalists.
