Wow, the punches just keep landing this week for the American Idol 2011 judges! After learning last night that Ellen had quit from her 2-year contract after just the first season it’s now being said that Kara DioGuardi has been fired from Idol!

I’m hoping that means they’ll bring just 2 new judges in, not 3, and keep it to a total of 3 judges. There was just too much going on last year and with no tie-breaker vote it was awkward.

So not only has Jennifer Lopez been practically confirmed as one of the new judges there’s also the rumor that Steven Tyler will fill the final spot, but that’s still very sketchy and unconfirmed.

What do you think? Satisfied to see Kara go? Are J. Lo and Tyler the right choices to replace the outgoing judges? Can Randy tie the new back to the old on his own?

Surprise, surprise. Well not really. After Simon Cowell announced that this season of American Idol would be his last there was much discussion on not only who would replace him here but who would join him on his new show, The X-Factor.

Of course the most obvious choice to join Simon on his new show would be his ever-popular, ex-judging partner, Paula Abdul. Looks like the rumored game of “ditch Randy” may have had its merit, according to THR:

Cowell is in discussions with his former “American Idol” co-star Paula Abdul and his current “X Factor” U.K. co-star Cheryl Cole for judging positions on the show, which launches on Fox in fall 2011.

Hiring Abdul and Cole would assure a certain degree of comfortable chemistry between Cowell and other judges on the new series.

Abdul in particular would allow Cowell to reform the heart of the longtime “Idol” judging team, which was split when Abdul quit the show in August amid contract dispute.

It’s absolutely brilliant. Simon said he wanted to go out and try something new after Idol. So he’ll be on a talent contest television show as a judge with Paula Abdul and one other judge. This sounds so crazy it just might work!

What do you think? Should Simon start up with a whole new judges panel or is Paula the perfect choice to bring in that fan base who can’t wait to see her again?

Update: A quick check to see who is this Cheryl Cole (not to be confused with the similar sounding Sheryl Crow) and I think if Simon gets her on the US version it could be a show about boiling live kittens and bunnies and it’ll have top ratings.

Update 2: Initial report that Simon has already signed Paula to join X-Factor though the source has no official source itself so take this one with a grain of salt. However, I’d say it’s just a matter of time before it does happen if it hasn’t already. – hat tip to Ashley

Hey guys!  Information is now getting leaked as to who did and did not make the cut during the American Idol 2010 Hollwood week.  Making it into the top 48 and possible 24 is Katie Stevens, the 16 year old brunette from the Boston audition.  There is also another girl named Michelle who makes the top 24.  Other people in the top 48 but no word yet if they have made it any farther is Tyler Grady, the broken hands guy; Jermaine Sellers, my favorite from the Atlanta auditions; Mallorie Haley from Winner, SD and Maddy Curtis.  I have no idea what is going on with Vanessa, the girl in the pink dress from TN.  I’m trying to find out about her and as soon as I do, I will let all of you know.  Voted out is Alex Nester and Holly Harden the guitar girl.

Now on to the BIG NEWS!  For those of you who did not follow us at survivorfandom.com, my source goes by the name missyae.  She spoiled the entire season of Survivor Samoa and the upcoming season of Survivor 20 as well as The Amazing Race.  She was not wrong one time and is a wealth of information.  She has informed me that the guy from Atlanta, Skii Bo Ski who wowed the judges with his “Heard it through the Grapevine” rendition has been cut from Hollywood week due to his arrests for possession of marijuana and cocaine and intent to distribute.  Apparently he was released from jail a week before he was to be in Hollywood and the producers got wind of the situation and had him cut.  This is an unfortunate situation because he could sing and I was looking forward to hearing more from him.

Now the even BIGGER NEWS, according to missyae, Taylor Swift is going to record “Pants on the Ground.”  This should give an interesting country twist to the song so be on the lookout for it in the coming weeks.  I’m hoping she will sing it on an upcoming episode of idol.

How do you feel about Skii Bo Ski getting cut for his run ins with the law and Can Taylor Swift do the viral phenomenon “Pants on the Ground” justice?
