Season 10 Archives

We keep getting more and more news about “American Idol” Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery’s debut album, including the latest that he’ll be covering an early song by Keith Urban.

McCreery said the album is mostly new material, but Urban suggested he take on one of his songs.

“There’s technically going to be one cover,” McCreery told the Boston Globe. “Keith Urban pitched a song my way, and it’s one he did way back when he was part of the band called The Ranch. He’s on tour right now so we don’t know, but he said he might play guitar on the track.”

He hasn’t revealed the title of the song, but we’ll let you know as soon as the news hits.

McCreery’s album “Clear as Day” is set to be released Oct. 4. McCreery says you’ll hear other influences on the album aside from Urban’s.

“It has some old country influences and elements, but it also has a contemporary feel with fun up-tempo songs,” he said. “It’s a good mixture. You can hear some of the influences that I grew up with, like Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard, but it still has a contemporary twist and feel that keeps it up to date.”

Yesterday, we shared a sneak listen to a track from the album called “The Trouble With Girls.”

Reigning “American Idol” champion Scotty McCreery’s new single “The Trouble With Girls” is set to debut on radio stations tomorrow, but we’ve got it here for you to listen to now!

It’s a ballad and right in Scotty’s tender range. The lyrics are a bit juvenile if you ask me (“girls sure are pretty”), but then I have to remind myself Scotty is only a teenager. It would be even more weird if he was singing about a life filled with battles and challenges.

Scotty’s debut album “Clear as Day” comes out Oct. 4 but, again, you can hear “The Trouble With Girls” from the album now.

What do you think of the song, Scotty fans?

Season 10 “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina will both be releasing their debut albums in October.

Scotty’s album “Clear as Day” is set to drop Oct. 4 while Lauren’s “Wildflower” the following week on Oct. 10.

“We’ve been working hard on this album not only in Nashville, but in studios across the country because I’ve been on the Idol tour,” Scotty said in a press release. “We’re putting what I believe are the best songs we could find on it and I really hope everyone likes it. The whole experience has been amazing!”

According to the release, Scotty’s new album is a collection of songs in the same straight-ahead country style that captured the nation’s hearts – and votes—on the show. It’s the next step in a promising career that is already breaking records.

Lauren says her album has a little something for everyone.

“I feel like it has a flavor for everybody,” Lauren said in a release. “It’s a mixture of all different songs, so I hope it will appeal to all different kinds of people. There are fast songs for people who like up-tempos that you can dance to, and there are also tearjerkers for people who like slower ballads.

“American Idol” Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery’s video for his first single “I Love You This Big” debuted today on CMT and in case you missed it, we have it for you here.

It’s not the best video, but Scotty sounds great. For such a great story-teller singer, the video tells no story at all. Who is he singing too? The man in the white beard? The crowd? God? His career? Himself? Who knows. They could’ve done better with the video, that’s for sure.

What do you think of the video?
