Spoilers Archives

Each week of American Idol for many of the past seasons we’ve had a sneak preview of the songs we’d be hearing that week. Sadly, those song spoilers may be no more thanks to tighter restrictions on audiences attending dress rehearsals.

MJ’s reported the news this weekend that an Idol fan went looking for rehearsal tickets only to be told by On-Camera Audiences, the group who runs Idol audience tickets, that those days were over.

“Are you guys no longer releasing tickets for American Idol rehearsals? Are they not doing live rehearsals?”

“On-Camera Audiences, Inc.: We just received word-no more rehearsal audiences.”

While there could be many reasons for no more audiences at rehearsals I’d have to guess that Nigel Lythgoe and company want to snuff out the leaks and make everyone wait to see who sings what. However, advance knowledge of the songs only goes to the fans that really want to know and even then it’s used to generate discussions and interest in the show. I really don’t see how this could benefit the show or improve ratings.

Perhaps someone a little closer to the show will turn out to have loose lips and we’ll learn more another week, but for now I wouldn’t be holding my breath to find out what your favorite American Idol 2011 singer will be performing.

Are you ready for the return of your favorite American Idol 2011 performers? The Top 13 performance show will be airing on Wednesday night, but, as Branden noted earlier, it was pre-recorded again this week. Nigel swears there’s nothing underhanded going on there (and if you think otherwise then Nigel says you’re a “moron”, seriously) and things will get back to their normal live performance self starting next week. Meanwhile, that means we get some pretty solid spoilers for what songs each singer will belt out in hopes of capturing your votes.

If you’d rather keep Wednesday’s performance show a surprise, then read no further. Otherwise, we’ve got the Top 13 Song Spoilers ahead for your review.

Bonus Update: If you want to see a live results show then here’s your chance. Two VIP Idol tickets are being auctioned off for the “Minorities in Broadcasting” charity. Details here. Hurry though, because the auction ends mid-day on Wednesday!

American Idol 2011 Top 13 Song Spoilers:

  • Lauren Alaina – Any Man of Mine (Shania Twain)
  • Casey Abrams – With A Little Help From My Friends (Joe Cocker)
  • Ashton Jones – When You Tell Me That You Love Me (Diana Ross)
  • Paul McDonald – Come Pick Me Up (Ryan Adams)
  • Pia Toscano – All By Myself (Celine Dion)
  • James Durbin – Maybe I’m Amazed (Paul McCartney)
  • Haley Reinhart – Blue (LeAnn Rimes)
  • Jacob Lusk – I Believe I Can Fly (R. Kelly)
  • Thia Megia – Smile (Michael Jackson)
  • Stefano Langone – Lately (Stevie Wonder)
  • Karen Rodriguez – I Could Fall In Love (Selena)
  • Scotty McCreery – The River (Garth Brooks)
  • Naima Adedapo – Umbrella (Rihanna)

Wow, good for Naima. She went from being voted out by America last week to getting the pimp spot in this week’s show. She must have been impressing Production during practices to get that closer position.

What do you think about the song selections? Did you favorite make a smart pick?

I’m not really surprised by any of these choices.  As far as the judges comments?  They loved Lauren Turner, Lauren Alaina and Pia Toscano and thought Rachel Zevita, Naima Adedepo, Ashthon Jones and Julie Zorilla were the worst of the night.  Everyone else was middle of the road.  We’ll have to wait until tomorrow night to see how it all plays out.

In the mean time get ready for the boys tonight as they sing for your votes for the first time.  Don’t forget Facebook voting is allowed online so be sure to vote for your favorites!

American Idol 2011 judges

We’ve got another round of early spoilers for the upcoming season of American Idol. Joe’s Place has pulled back the curtain on a new round of singing where the Top 40 will face off with some new choices:

The top 40 will be brought back to Hollywood for a round called “Sing For Your Life”. What is unknown at this time is if this round will actually cut the top 40 down to a top 12, or 15, or 20.

What is known is that during this round contestants choose ONE song to sing. They can choose from the AI approved song list, pick another song, not on the list and hope that it gets approval, or they can sing AN ORIGINAL SONG.

The contestants can choose to sing it Acapella or with ONE Instrument.

Letting the American Idol hopefuls perform an original song is a much needed enhancement to the show. Of course we’ve got the return of musical instruments, but I don’t think anyone really thought that’d be going away.

I can’t wait to see how this new round plays out. What about you?
