How does Ellen Degeneres qualify as a judge on American Idol?
Ellen Degeneres will replace Paula Abdul on American Idol 2010. Now, what experience does she have in the music industry? How does she exactly quality to become a judge on American Idol? They’ll get anybody in Hollywood who’s a likable celebrity and a huge fan base even though she has zero experience in the music industry.

It isn’t as though AI is a legitimate measure of talent…they let the American public ultimately choose….and we all know how good *our* taste in music is.

She’s just the comic relief person.
She doesn’t. They are looking for comic relieve to help spice up the show as ratings have been falling. I agree that this is a poor decision. Ellen did a guest spot on So You Think You Can Dance, and it was pathetic. She had some funny bits, but as a judge she can add zero constructive criticism. This will hopefully be the final season for AI, so they can end it with a bit of dignity.
anyone with ears can do it. Its not rocket science, and no degrees needed, nor do you have to be a singer. We all know Paula sure wasnt one. She might have thought so, but PAHLEEZE…OK, and just cuz Randy and Simon produce in the entertainment business, dont make them geniuses either. Get a grip!
