I’m auditioning for American Idol and I want to stick with the rock genre. What are some good songs to use for this?

I just turned sixteen, and I am auditioning for American Idol in a few weeks. I really want to sing Undo It by Carrie Underwood, and I don’t sound anything like her when I sing. Everyone tells me I sound like Dolly Parton. I was wondering if it was okay to sing one of her songs since she won the show? I didn’t know whether it was a good choice or not. =]

I’m auditioning for American Idol Season 9 on July 9 and, it being my first time auditioning, AND the fact that I’m only 16 does kind of make me the underdog. I think my voice is somewhat pop, but really goes with very melodic songs, so if you could give me any suggestions, that would be amazing. If you want to hear me sing, on Youtube, if you search "Amanda Voice of an Angel", you will be able to see the videos of me in a competition I did recently. Now, you’re warned, don’t look at the ones from earlier 2008, they are REALLY bad, in my opinion, and you can definitely tell how much my voice has changed up to the video from 2009, haha
So, if you could give me any kind of feedback as to what song I should sing, it would really help me.
Thanks

I am thinking about auditioning for american idol this weekend, and I was just wanting some suggestions for what I should sing. I am a 21 year old female, I usually sing Opera but that obviously won’t work for this audition. I have a very extensive range, but prefer to sing in the middle/high part of my voice. Nothing that requires a lot of growling/throaty singing please. Thanks for any suggestions!
